Soldiers & Battleworks Guide

The army layer explained — rally orders, scouting, resource gathering, and every deployable from trenches to Ironclad tanks.

Why the army layer decides games

Every MOBA asks you to win a lane. March of Giants asks you to win a lane and the stretch of ground underneath it. Soldiers are the reason: they hold space, they see for you, and they are the difference between a raid and an occupation.

Rally Soldiers from advancing waves, bring them between lanes, and command them across the battlefield. Send them to scout, collect resources, take down enemy Giants, capture objectives and overwhelm defences.

The five soldier orders

| Order | What it does | When to use it | | --- | --- | --- | | Scout | Map information your army earns. A squad sent wide holds vision while you fight elsewhere. | Before any objective, and whenever the enemy disappears. | | Attack | Focuses your soldiers onto a target. | To shred a Giant or break a shield. | | Capture | Claims an outpost. | The moment a fight is won — not after. | | Retrieve | Gathers resources from the field. | While the lane is safe and quiet. | | Enhance | Buffs the soldiers themselves. | Before a push you intend to convert. |

Battleworks

Battleworks are how you make ground permanent. They create choke points, reinforce objectives and bend the shape of every engagement.

  • Trenches — set up defensive lines that secure the progress you have made in a lane.
  • Slayer Bunkers — fire on enemy Giants and turn a lane into a siege.
  • Soldier Drops — deliver a fresh wave straight into a fight that is already happening.
  • Ironclad — an armoured transport that carries pressure across the map.
  • Cavalry — mobile shock units that punish a broken formation.

Scouting is the real skill

Most losses at beginner level come from not knowing where the enemy went. A squad left wide does not just reveal a rotation; it commits the enemy to either walking past your army or spending time clearing it.

That decision costs them tempo, and tempo is what wins outposts.

Putting it together

The winning pattern repeats: scout to find the fight, attack to win the fight, capture while they are dead, then deploy Battleworks so that the ground you just took is expensive to retake.

Soldiers make each of those steps cheaper. Ignore them and you are playing half a game.
